Grade 8 Homework task - Pressure
You will need your Ilmiö textbook for this. If your Finnish is not up to this, then there is a very poor translation here.
Read the sections on 'Ilmapaine' and 'Hydrostaattinen paine' (p.182) and then, in your notebooks answer the following in full sentences. English or Finnish answers are both fine.
1. What causes air pressure?
2. What is normal air pressure in Pa?
3. Name two other units of pressure which are used in the metric system.
4. What is hydrostatic pressure?
5. The SI-system of units is really important but sometimes other units are used (even in countries which use the metric system). The unit of blood pressure is mmHg (millimetres of mercury), with normal atmospheric pressure at 760mmHg. Why is this weird unit used? (This may take a little research!)
