Missed lesson

Missed lessons: it is your responsibility to catch up with the work before the next lesson. This is in the school rules. It is also really important if you want to have all the work for tests. You will not get any sympathy or test concessions if you do not catch up as the resources are here !

3 15.1Temperature and heat.

Measurement of temperature.

Using different thermometers. Experiment - main focus is recording
Understanding heat and temperature - the difference.    Temperature scales.  Thermometers:  how a liquid in glass thermometer works. In your notebook, write you have learned about the water temperatures, and suggest an improvement to make the experiment more accurate (=exact, better numbers)
4 22.1Heat transfer methods and recording dataReviewing the experiment from last time,

Experiment on cooling water. Recording data scientifically - the importance of presenting data accurately.

Lesson notes
In full sentences write at least three things you have learnt to do this lesson (ABOUT THE PHYSICS).

5 29.1Heat transfer methods. Predicting and hypothesising
Conduction of heat along a bar
Conduction animation -internal energy
Convection particle video

Quick video clip explaining convection currents

Surviving the sauna

Lesson notes
Over the next week, pay attention to your outdoor clothing and think about how it keeps you warm. How does it use conduction, convection and/or radiation ? No need to write anything, but you will be asked about it next lesson.

Lesson notes
Twenty minutes on the report for the experiment - this should give you enough time to complete the method, including the variable section.

For help processing data, watch this
20 minutes on the conclusion - this video may help you with the data

14 1.4.Investigation deadline (end of the lesson)If you have finished the investigation, Read this page on how animals keep warm in cold conditions.  In your notebook, put three headings - 'conduction', 'convection' and 'radiation' and under each heading, write which animals use each method, and explain how they do so. Some animals may use more than one method.Spend time going through the notes you have in your book. Are they complete and do you understand them. This is important for the open note book test which will be next month.
