Missed lesson

Missed lessons: it is your responsibility to catch up with the work before the next lesson. This is in the school rules. It is also really important if you want to have all the work for tests. You will not get any sympathy or test concessions if you do not catch up as the resources are here !

Open note test tips

My tests are usually open notebook. This is to try to reduce your stress of trying to learn everything the night before - you do not have to learn facts as they will not be tested. So how can you study ?

First of all - stop panicking!

Here is a video for tips too, which goes through each point below.

1. Make sure your notebook has all the lesson notes.  If you were absent, or think something is missing, check with a friend who was in the class, and also check your class' page on this blog. Most of the resources are there.

2. Read the notes and check you understand them. This is much more effective if you do this with a friend who was in class with you, or somebody else (older sibling ? parent?). If you can explain in your own words what the concepts and ideas are, then this shows you understand them.

3. What if you don't understand ?  Check the blog to see if there is a video for the lesson, or a 'tricky concept' video. Watch it.  Still stuck ? Contact me - email me, see me in class.

What is allowed in an open notebook test ?

You can take in your notebook, all sheets you were given in class and any notes you make in the notebook yourself.

Does this mean you can copy out pages from Ilmiƶ or other books ? Yes - but I don't think copying is a good idea - the test will look at your understanding, not at how well you can 'copy/paste' from notes.
