Esters
By the end of this lesson you should:
- be able to identify esters by name and structural formulae
- list examples of where esters are found in natural and manufactured products
Suggested approach to the lesson: watch the tutorial video. You can take notes if you wish but the main points for notes which will help you in the test, are on the powerpoint on naming esters. You should, however, have a couple of examples of structural formulae such as being able to draw an ester like ethyl propanoate. The two other videos give examples of uses of esters. The homework task is to make you think about technological developments and applications of chemistry.
