Missed lesson

Missed lessons: it is your responsibility to catch up with the work before the next lesson. This is in the school rules. It is also really important if you want to have all the work for tests. You will not get any sympathy or test concessions if you do not catch up as the resources are here !

  • Magnetism is naturally present in some substances

  • Magnets create areas around them called fields

  • Magnetic objects experience a force in a magnetic field

  • The ends of magnets are called the North and South poles

  • Like poles repel, unlike poles attract

  • The Earth has a magnetic field

  • The Earth’s magnetic field causes the aurora

Find out how much your family pays per unit of electricity (kWh) at home. If it is a spot price contract, use the price now to calculate how much it costs each time to use your sauna. If you do not know the power of the sauna, assume it is 3 kW.  If you do not use a sauna, assume 3 kW and it takes 2 hours! Show all your working, including the estimate of the time spent heating and using the sauna.

Instructions for your investigation:

I need all your work by the end of term, but with disruption/absences etc. everyone will be at a different stage.  So at the end of this week's lesson please do the following:

Write me an email message (karin DOT parker AT eduouka DOT fi)

1. Add a link in the email to your written report

2. Add a link in the document to your spreadsheet of results - each person in the group must send me the results

DO NOT just share the links with me, please copy/paste them into the email. This will make grading and keeping up with your progress next week much easier, and I can take into account absences etc.

If you are not here next week, then I can simply grade what you have done now

For info, this might be useful:  Help sheet for data recording and graphs on google sheets.
